Why Donate?

Q: Why do you seek a donation?
A: Basically the Society does not seek a subscription fee and the goods that are sometimes offered for sale are basically cost plus £2 (on average) plus postage & packing. Ours is not a commercial web site, it is operated by volunteers who support the work of Remembrance Ledegem and the work of the Leinster Regiment Association. Remembrance Ledegem is not permitted to register as a charity because UK Charity Law requires a turn over in excess of £5000 a year - and we are about ten times less than that! We need certainly funds to pay for the website and if we do have surplus funds they are in turn donated to the Leinster Regiment Association

Q: Any other reasons why you need funds?
A: Yes, funds are still required to help meet costs already incurred and future costs of developing the opportunities to support events between The Leinster Regiment Association and the community of Ledegem. For instance we have as an objective the opportunity for members to take part in an annual WW1 memorial trip to Ledegem. We know from experience that such visits require significant financial support.
Q: How do I know my donation will be properly used?
A: Good question, and I can hardly say trust me! The Society does have a set of governing rules and the National Westminster Bank has been appointed as Bank to the Society. Financial Accounts are planned for publication on an annual basis and will be published in the September Society Newsletter that is distributed to all subscribing members
